For those of you who do not know about my plans for the next year, I am doing a year of voluntary service. The program is called Intermenno Trainee Program. It provides a way from young adult Mennonites here in the US to live with a Mennonite family in Europe.

Yesterday, I found out where my placement is and my job title. I am going to be living right outside of Basel, Switzerland in a small town called Fullinsdorf. The family I am living with is Andreas and Margret Eschbach. They have three young children Martina (12), Nicola (11) and Oliver (9). They own a vegetable business and therefore I will be helping them in that buisness. Some of my other jobs will to be a nanny and household chores. Their operation is pretty large. His parents both live on the farm and they some workers from Portugal who live with them.

Even though there are two Mennonite Churches in Basel, they have their own home church that meets every Saturday evening. I do have the option to attend church in Basel which is about 10km away.

I leave August 5th for Amsterdam, where I will have training for 3 days. I am then off for Switzerland.
